I’m sure we’ve all seen it by now. The picture of the guy giving Obama a bear hug. The guy giving Obama the hug is Scott Van Duzer, owner of Big Apple Pizza and Pasta Italian Restaurant in Ft. Pierce Florida. Mr. Van Duzer is a Republican that also runs a foundation that helps with blood donations and has received White House commendations for his work. He also says that he voted for Obama in 2008 and plans to again in 2012.
Because of the picture his Yelp page has gone political. While some of the negative “reviews” have been removed from Yelp as of now, I did find reference to them in this article. I encourage everyone on the right to treat this small business owner, and every small business owner for that matter, with respect, regardless of their political position. If you don’t agree with them, don’t patronize their establishment, but don’t be hateful about it. The right has historically been the side to rise above, to be the “adult in the room” and we need to not be dragged down to the behavior of those on the left.
If I don’t agree with the policies of a business, I don’t go there and I will inform other of why I will not patronize that establishment, but it must be done in a respectful manner. Not in a manner such as this review
"Well.. I'd eat there but after seeing the owner grab our leftist President I felt compelled to disrespect his establishment as much as the President disrespects our constitution. Shame on you Scott Van Duzer for thumbing your nose at all the small business owners this President has disrespected for the last four years. I guess you DIDN'T BUILD IT! I hope you're prepared for many more Yelps like this!!! Maybe you weren't thinking, or maybe you are the only liberal pro Obama business owner, who knows.. but you won't get mine or anyone else's business for your treachery.”Remember Chick-fil-A? Remember how those on the left held ridiculous “boycotts” that only resulted in record breaking business for Chick-fil-A? Due to the poor reviews on Yelp for this business, the left as come out en-masse, with 446 new comments today so far alone. 99% of these are in support of this business. If it hadn't been for those that first posted poorly about this business due to his support of Obama, most of the positive posts would likely not have been written. This is even a top-searched topic at the moment.
So remember, when faced with a business that we do not agree with, we need to simply respectfully decline to patronize that establishment. We do not need to yell and scream and threaten boycotts. We do not need to stoop to the level of the left. Remember the saying “Never argue with an idiot, he will drag you down to his level and beat you with experience.” If we attempt to behave as the left does, we will only succeed in making ourselves look at foolish as they do.
